Riding as Therapy
Lisa D. from Grandview, Texas, shared her story of recovery after a bronco riding accident left her paralyzed from the shoulders down. After months of rehabilitation and success with therapeutic riding, Lisa's friends surprised her with Khan, a 25-year-old former patrol horse. "When he sees me dragging my saddle out of the barn he meets me at the round pen. He comes when I call him. He stands patiently as I push the saddle up his side. He is happy to have the job of carrying me around our small ranch," wrote Lisa. "It is only on the back of my horse Khan that I am free. He has eaten Purina® Equine Senior® horse feed since he has been with me and always will. He deserves the best I can give him!"

Through Thick and Thin
Karen R. from New Orleans, La., recounted the obstacles she and her 29-year-old Arabian gelding, Sunday, have overcome during their lives together. When Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, Karen was unable to evacuate with Sunday in time, so she chose to stay in the barn and weather the storm together for a week before the National Guard helped them evacuate. "Even though he hasn't been ridden since Katrina, with a proper diet, including Purina® Equine Senior® horse feed and alfalfa/timothy hay, he has always been toned and fit," wrote Karen. "Sunday is a once-in-a-lifetime horse, and he is in wonderful shape because of the loving care he receives, with the help of Purina."

Love of a Lifetime
Amanda A. from Fort Dodge, Ia., describes how the love she has shared with her 37-year-old American Quarter Horse, Paco, has transcended generations. She first met Paco as a 7-year-old girl at Girl Scouts summer camp, where she first rode him. "In the fall of 2004 I bought him from the camp. I boarded him with a friend and immediately put him on Purina® Equine Senior® horse feed. In just a couple of months it looked as though he had gone back in time about 10 years," wrote Amanda. "He is now teaching my 2-year-old daughter to ride and to love horses the way I always have. She loves him just as much as I do. It is so wonderful having such a close companion and Equine Senior® horse feed truly made it possible."

Ritchie Industries Presents New Stall Fount II Automatic Waterer

Ritchie Industries Updates Stall Fount Series Design

Conrad, Iowa (March 14, 2012)-Ritchie Industries, the leading manufacturer of automatic watering fountains, has released a newly designed corner mount option to the Stall Fount Series. The automatic horse waterer is wall-mounted and delivers fresh, clean water to horses using Ritchie's time proven valve for rapid refill.

The new Stall Fount II series offers a fully insulated casing and stainless steel design. The new design eliminates chewing with its stainless steel rounded cover and offers smooth, rounded edges for the horse's safety. The removable cover allows full access to the trough and valve for easy cleaning and maintenance. In addition, the new Stall Fount II is available in heated and non-heated versions. If freeze protection is needed, the Stall Fount II 125 adds a 125-watt trough heater and supply line heat cable. An optional insulated shroud, which is available in two lengths, is available to provide protection from freezing and animal damage to an exposed supply line. The shroud can be added to the standard Stall Fount II to cover water supply lines.

"I only trust the best to provide for my horses, which is why I installed Ritchie fountains at the Downunder Horsemanship Ranch. The quality craftsmanship and durable construction of its products can't be matched. Recently, I've been exceptionally pleased with the new Stall Fount II. It has a sleek design, is easy-to-clean and its industry-leading construction gives me peace of mind knowing my horses are receiving top care."  commented Clinton Anderson of Downunder Horsemanship.

The Stall Fount II has a capacity of 1 gallon of water with a refill rate of 1.45 gallons a minute. It carries a 10-year warranty against manufacturing defects or corrosion. It is now available through Ritchie distributors nationwide and online at RitchieEquine.com.

Since 1921, Ritchie has manufactured durable, dependable automatic fountains for many species of livestock, including beef, dairy, equine, swine, sheep and goats. The distinct Ritchie design has been the standard bearer of quality. Ritchie fountains continue to serve all sizes of operations with equipment designed to provide years of trouble-free use. GlobalVetLINK Featured on HorseTalk Live on Rural TV

Ames, Iowa (March 23, 2012) - GlobalVetLINK (GVL®), the leader in digital solutions for animal health, will be featured on RFD-TV affiliate station, Rural TV on their new show, HorseTalk Live. Tune into Rural TV, available on cable and satellite, on March 30th, 2012 at 2 pm CDT to see how digital certificates from GlobalVetLINK ease the burden of the paperwork process for traveling with your horses. GlobalVetLINK founder, Kevin Maher will be accompanied by GVL subscribing veterinarians, Dr. Matt Frazier and Dr. Monty McInturff in addition to horse owners who use GlobalVetLINK's electronic certificate system. They will join host Lizzie Iwersen in a panel discussion on the benefits of digital animal health documentation solutions.

GlobalVetLINK's electronic certificate solution offers an easy and efficient way for equine veterinarians to create, submit and distribute certificates such as EIA (Coggins) and OCVI (health certificates). Electronic signature technology paved the way for certificate distribution through GVL's owner login option and by email, drastically increasing the speed of certificate delivery and availability of certificates to animal owners. With online accessibility, owners will never miss a trip again due to missing travel documentation.

Dr. Don Höglund can testify that GVL's online certification system is a valuable service from both an equine veterinarian and horse owner perspective. "The easy-to-use digital picture option confirms that the animal I draw blood on for the Coggins test is in fact the correct animal. Comparing my GVL document photos with my AQHA certificate photos keeps me accurate and reliable," says Dr. Höglund, an assistant professor at North Carolina State University and University of Minnesota College(s) of veterinary Medicine.

HorseTalk Live, will be hosted by Lizzie Iwersen from their Nashville studio. Rural TV is Rural Media Group's newest channel. Much like RFD-TV, it will focus on rural activities including horses, cattle and agriculture. She will feature people from equine associations, industry publications, competitions, health care experts and manufacturers of tack, riding apparel and barn equipment with the goals of growing their equine audience and making the equine business stronger than ever before.

GlobalVetLINK (GVL®) was founded in 2001 and is the nation's leader in electronic animal health records, providing intuitive online certification solutions that enable animal health practitioners to quickly and accurately create professional health records. Their services embrace both companion and food animal where animal health practitioners and their clients can manage their records at any time and from anywhere with Internet access.
