Teen Uses Horse to Escape Abduction

A teen-aged girl in Australia escaped on horseback from two men trying to abduct her, according to a report on news.com.au. She was on her horse when the incident occurred, and she was able to kick free from the men and ride away.

"I was just riding my horse and then heard a car approach," the 17-year-old, identified only as Mikaela, told reporters. "I pulled over to the left to let him pass, and then two guys got out of the car and grabbed me. I kicked them off and escaped."

Mikaela was riding in Warrandyte, northeast of Melbourne, Australia, on April 22. It was 4:30 p.m. and still daylight. Police called the attempt brazen and said that one man grabbed the girl’s right foot and the other grabbed her right arm.

"It’s quite cowardly to pick on a 17-year-old girl that's just going for a horse ride," Detective Senior Constable Mark Rogers said.
