How to Follow the Action: TV and Online WEG Coverage

Not going to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky, which kick off Saturday, September 25? Never fear: There are plenty of opportunities to watch the action on TV or your Internet-connected computer.

NBC Network TV Broadcast Schedule

Sunday, Sept. 26, 12:00-1:30 p.m. EDT: Live coverage of team reining competition, plus opening-ceremonies footage and a look ahead at the two weeks of WEG competition to come.

Sunday, Oct. 3, 1:00-4:00 p.m. EDT: Live coverage of the show-jumping phase of the eventing competition, plus footage of cross-country, individual reining, and dressage.

Sunday, Oct. 10, 4:00-6:00 p.m. EDT: Live coverage of closing ceremonies, plus footage of jumping, vaulting, and driving; and a WEG recap.

These are announced broadcast times and lineups; double-check your local listings to make sure you don't miss a thing.

Online coverage

Universal Sports will stream live coverage of eventing, jumping, and dressage and also will offer taped coverage from other disciplines. You'll have to pay a one-time subscription fee of $29.99 (US) or a daily access fee of $12.99. For the complete lineup and to subscribe, visit the UniversalSports.com WEG page.

The International Equestrian Federation's online broadcast channel, FEITV.org, offers its own subscription-only WEG coverage. Click on the link for coverage and pay-per-view details.

Finally, the United States Equestrian Federation's online video channel, USEFNetwork.com, will offer selected videos of WEG coverage. As far as I can tell by looking at the site, this footage will be free of charge and archived only (not live). But for a "you are here" taste of the WEG, go to the USEFNetwork.com home page and click the "On the Grounds" tab to bring up the live Webcam from high atop the USEF building. The building overlooks the main Kentucky Horse Park visitor parking lot, which as you'll see has been transformed into the WEG Trade Show Village.
