Given the social-media explosion, it's no surprise that I'm just one of several bloggers devoting keystrokes to chronicling the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Here are some of the other blogs you might want to check out:

  • Purina's Live from Lexington blog: This one hasn't launched yet, as it's actually a contest to find two worthy "blogospondents" to capture the sights and sounds of the WEG for the well-known animal-food manufacturer. Two grand-prize winners each will receive all-expense-paid trips to Lexington, Kentucky, to cover portions of the September 25-October 10 event. Additional perks include one ton of Purina Mills horse feed, a Flip video camera, a mini-laptop computer, a $1,000 Visa debit card, and Purina-logo clothing. To enter, you must be 18 or older and submit a 60-second video explaining "Why I Would Love to Be a Purina Live from Lexington Blogospondent." To enter, go to LivefromLexington.com. Entry deadline is May 31.
  • The WEG folks themselves maintain a blog at 2010alltechweg.blogspot.com. This one got off to a bit of a slow start last year but has gotten interesting lately, now that it's been reinvented as the official WEG athlete blog, with entries penned by WEG competitor hopefuls themselves from around the globe. Recent bloggers include dressage star Anky van Grunsven of the Netherlands, Australian eventer Stuart Tinney, British Paralympic medalist Sophie Wells, and America's own jumping champion Beezie Madden.
  • US Olympic dressage veteran Robert Dover has an eye for a good horse. He's also now coaching the Canadians, who are coming along like gangbusters. Robert blogs about Canada's WEG preparations, among other things, at DoversWorld.com
What other interesting WEG-related blogs are you following? More are sure to spring up as September draws nearer.
